And then on Sunday...
We went to Wing for their open gardens. Fifteen gardens opened their gates to the public for the bargain price of £6.50, plus there were teas and scrumptious cakes in the village hall. Wing is one of Rutland's most picturesque villages, set on a ridge south of Rutland Water. With a population of around 300, it is known for its attractive ironstone cottages, historic church, ancient turf maze, and strong village community.
The village opened up their gardens, and wow, what a mixture, what a view! Within the diverse range of gardens nestled a studio on Church Street by the renowned artist Mary Rodgers (maryrodgers.co.uk) and her studio and a couple of her lovely paintings are shown below. Bev had to wear her new purchase from Nevill Holt, a navy linen dress from the Jigsaw clothing sale rail!
