Throughout the year we host talks, visits, and practical workshops, along with informal gatherings where members can exchange knowledge, plants, and inspiration. Our aim is simple: to deepen our understanding of gardening while fostering a sense of community around the shared joy of cultivating beautiful and productive gardens.

MEET
'THE LATE SHOW - AUTUMN'S FLORAL FINALE!'
Andrew is a highly respected plant breeder, gardener and lecturer who travels extensively throughout the country, giving around 50 talks each year. His busy lecture programme takes him across the country during February, March and April, and again from September through to early November.
He has been invited to give keynote talks at prestigious events including the Hardy Plant Society Autumn Weekends and National Annual General Meetings, as well as speaking regularly to regional Hardy Plant Society groups, regional NCCPG groups, local gardening and florist societies, and Women’s Institutes.
In recognition of his contribution to the world of herbaceous perennials, Andrew was awarded the prestigious RHS Alan Bloom Award in 2025. His reputation as an engaging and knowledgeable speaker means that he is often booked more than two years in advance.
Andrew trained as a plant breeder and, 31 years ago, founded Norwell Nurseries and Gardens with his wife, Helen. The garden is home to more than 2,500 different varieties of plants and has been featured in numerous leading gardening and lifestyle publications, including Country Living, Country Life, English Gardener, Landscaper Magazine, Gardens Illustrated and RHS Garden magazine.
Since 2013, Norwell has also been included in the highly regarded publication Great Gardens to Visit. The garden is renowned for its exceptional use of colour throughout the seasons, with autumn being a particular highlight when the National Collection of Hardy Chrysanthemums comes into its own. Norwell also holds the National Collection of Astrantias.
And, remarkably, this outstanding garden is less than 40 miles from North Luffenham, in Newark, Nottinghamshire.

Growing with Nature at White Goose Flower Farm
At White Goose Flower Farm, the way the flowers are grown is as important as the beautiful blooms they produce. Their beds are mulched with natural materials such as straw, bark and sheep’s wool, helping to retain moisture, suppress weeds and improve the soil naturally. Young plants are given an excellent start in long planters, where they can develop strong, healthy root systems before being planted out. This thoughtful approach means robust plants, healthier soil and less reliance on chemicals. It’s a simple but highly effective example of how working with nature can produce a thriving, productive flower garden.
